Hello South Pas Active friends,

While the national political scene is full of pain and frustration, we're staying focused on how we can improve things here at home. We're all about creating a healthier, more enjoyable South Pasadena for everyone. Through our mix of service and advocacy, we're working to transform our streets into spaces where all people and transportation choices are respected.

Look for us at the Bike Valet

An example of our service is the bike valet provided at last month's Sustainability Fair in the gorgeous Arroyo Seco Nature Park! It was a joy to see so many smiling faces arrive car-free to enjoy our city's natural treasure. Visitors were treated with secure bike parking so they could enjoy the festivities worry-free. We also had a chance to show off stickers with our new logo!

Don't miss our bike valet next Saturday the 26th at The Eclectic – South Pasadena's biggest music celebration of the year. Come join the fun and leave the car at home!

Make your voice heard

One of the most powerful ways we make change happen is by connecting you with the decision-makers who shape our city. Right now, there are three big ways you can make your voice heard:

The City Budget Survey is your direct line to influencing how our tax dollars get spent. If we don't speak up for safer streets and car-free spaces, they simply won't happen. The South Pasadena City Council really does use these results to guide their priorities, so please take a few minutes to highlight items related to pedestrian safety and bicycle infrastructure. Your clicks literally translate to safer crosswalks, better bike lanes, and more walkable neighborhoods for everyone in South Pas!

Next, the City Library Vision Survey is gathering input on redesigning both the library and senior center into a new facility, including the surrounding park space. This is our chance to emphasize the importance of safe walking and biking routes to this community hub! One of the coolest ideas being floated is a "library of things" – imagine being able to borrow tools to fix your bike, gardening equipment, or other useful items you might only need occasionally. This kind of resource sharing is exactly the kind of community-building, sustainability-minded innovation we love to see. Please add your enthusiastic support for this concept!

Finally, the "Reconnecting Pasadena" project represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to heal the urban fabric torn apart by freeway construction. While South Pas successfully fought off the 710 extension, our friends in Pasadena and Altadena have lived with the consequences for decades. Now, the freeway "stub" just north of us is being reimagined. When you fill out the survey, please advocate for a vision with safe walking and cycling connections between our communities. Imagine a safe, continuous ride to Old Pasadena or at a new plaza in the current dead space; these things are all within reach.

Upcoming events

Building a more active, connected South Pasadena isn't just about infrastructure – it's about coming together as neighbors and friends. That's why we're so excited about these upcoming events! There's something for everyone, from family-friendly rides to advocacy opportunities:

We're so grateful to have you as part of our South Pas Active community. Together, we're creating a more sustainable, connected, and joyful South Pasadena.

    Stay Active,

Your friends at South Pas Active
